El tema de estudio está enfocado hacia el deterioro del patrimonio cultural y sus características, presente en municipios pequeños, de categoría 6, y sus periferias rurales, donde se evidencia pérdida de identidad y arraigo cultural, de igual manera la poca inversión destinada para la conservación del patrimonio cultural de cada región. El estudio se enfrenta con el problema de cómo favorecer la apropiación y exaltación de la cultura y rasgos característicos propios de las regiones rurales del país, contextualizado en el municipio de La Peña, en la provincia de Gualivá, al Noroccidente del departamento de Cundinamarca. Un territorio marcado por los años de violencia en el país y un municipio donde la pérdida del patrimonio material e inmaterial es constante.
