To carry out the study, two instruments were applied: an Emotional Dependence Questionnaire (CDE) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, where different dimensions were measured to identify the relationship. The analysis technique based on Cronbach's alpha was taken into account to obtain data accuracy. The results show that there is a significant relationship between both variables because they exceed the coefficient of 0.97, presenting a low and very low self-esteem that may result in a high level of emotional dependence in students. In conclusion, it is considered necessary to inquire about the direct effect that self-esteem has on emotional dependence in order to know the dimensions or factors that influence it.

En la presente investigación se realizó un análisis sobre la relación que tienen las variables de autoestima y dependencia emocional en los estudiantes de psicología de la Universidad Antonio Nariño en la ciudad de Riohacha. Para llevar a cabo el estudio se aplicaron dos instrumentos: un Cuestionario de Dependencia Emocional (CDE) y la Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg, donde se midieron diferentes dimensiones para identificar la relación. Se tuvo en cuenta la técnica de análisis basado en el Alfa de Cronbach para obtener precisión sobre los datos. Los resultados evidencian que existe una relación significativa entre ambas variables debido a que superan la coeficiencia de 0,97, presentando una baja y muy baja autoestima que puede el nivel alto de dependencia emocional en los estudiantes. A modo de conclusión se considera necesario indagar sobre la afectación directa que tiene la autoestima en la dependencia emocional para conocer las dimensiones o factores que influyen en ella.
