La enfermedad de la covid19, generó una emergencia mundial que terminó con una declaración de pandemia y con un encierro total de todas las personas y establecimientos. En el caso de Colombia, se inició con un aislamiento selectivo dado bajo el Decreto 206 de 26 de febrero de 2021, donde se reguló la fase de aislamiento selectivo y distanciamiento individual responsable en la República de Colombia en el marco de la emergencia sanitaria por causa del nuevo Coronavirus. Posteriormente, para el mes de marzo, se dio el encierro total de todas las personas. Es entonces como muchas personas no pudieron asistir de nuevo a los servicios general de salud, especialmente a la odontología, dado que el riesgo de contagio era muy alto. Por lo que, la poca posibilidad de visitar al profesional de la salud oral y la falta de higiene dental, empezaron a afectar a las personas y mucho más, a las que se habían contagiado por el virus causante de la covid19. Generando mayores complicaciones como inflamación de encías, dolor, caries, entre otras patologías. Es por ello que, dentro de esta revisión narrativa, se busca identificar sí la covid19 tiene relación con las alteraciones en mucosa oral y periodontal en pacientes con SARS-COV-2. Usando métodos de búsqueda en plataformas como Scopus, lilacs, livivo, etc. Se leyeron títulos, resúmenes y textos completos y se tuvieron en cuenta palabras clave explicitas, que facilitaron la búsqueda de los artículos. Basados en esta revisión, se concluyen los hallazgos encontrados y se analiza la posible relación de la covid19 y la salud dental.
