Therefore, this research has as its object of study, the de facto marital union in Colombia and its Civil status, as a development perspective and source of law. En Colombia, la legislación sobre el estado civil de las personas fue definida frente a una situación social y civil, respecto del ser humano y su relacionamiento en sociedad. Bajo esta perspectiva se establecieron y emplearon cuatro estados civiles, casado(a), soltero(a), divorciado(a) o viudo(a). Sin embargo, en el actual contexto colombiano la concepción y estructura de familia tradicional ha mutado, dando origen a nuevos estados civiles, por cuanto hoy existen un sin número de compañeros permanentes que conviven juntos, pero no están casados. Por lo tanto, esta investigación tiene como objeto de estudio, la unión marital de hecho en Colombia y su estado Civil, como perspectiva de desarrollo y fuente de derecho.
