Summary: | ADHD is a common disorder of childhood neurodevelopment, presenting modification of some brain processes. Considering that visual interpretation occurs in the brain, some visual functions may be affected in these patients. Objective: To identify monocular and binocular visual alterations in patients with ADHD by means of a bibliographic review. Methodology: A bibliographic review was carried out in documentary such in Pubmed, Science Direct, Scielo, Elsevier and Embase. Results: Some prevalence of alterations in accommodation, anti-saccades, color vision, contrast sensitivity and stereopsis were found. Conclusions: ADHD compromises a complex neurochemical and neurosensitive system that triggers dopaminergic deficits, slowdown in visual and muscle processing, generating different visual alterations, findings that suggest to visual health professionals to correlate each data found in the consultation in order to to seek effective multidisciplinary management in these patients. |
