Sumario:In Colombia, social inequity can be seen in all its departments. In this country you can find people with doctorates working in large companies, and others, without knowing how to read or write, working informally with precarious living conditions. When a person does not have these basic literacy skills, they are known as illiterate. An illiterate person presents difficulties such as political, economic, social and educational. In the political sphere, one cannot speak of democracy, since there are people who cannot inform themselves and depend on the point of view of others to clarify concepts. According to Lizama. E. (2013), illiterate people find it difficult to understand their rights and duties as citizens, and because of this, they are marginalized by society and consequently it is a reason to take advantage of their ignorance and exploit them. In the socioeconomic field, the illiterate person will not be able to obtain a quality job due to the lack of basic knowledge such as literacy and that will lead to a vulnerability of their children and they will be a reproductive agent of this same condition.
