Por su parte, el aspecto minero es regido por el Código de Minas (CM) emitido en el año 2001 que introduce el licenciamiento ambiental (LA) para el desarrollo de proyectos mineros; por lo tanto, es desde hace 20 años que en la actividad minera se contempla además de los requisitos mínimos para el aprovechamiento del agua subterránea, los análisis de impactos y medidas de manejo ambiental en el componente hidrogeológico.
