of Cauca. The choice of this topic was due to the economic importance of subclinical mastitis
and the need to make farmers aware of the situation of subclinical mastitis on their farms.
Through a descriptive cross-sectional study, 61 raw milk samples were taken to determine some
physicochemical and somatic cell count parameters. The data obtained were analyzed according
to the regulations in force in Colombia (Decree 616 of 2006) of the Ministry of Social
Protection. Most of the physicochemical parameters of the raw milk samples evaluated were
found to be outside the normal parameters of Colombian legislation. Somatic cell count was also
higher than allowed. Raw milk has poor physicochemical quality which is directly related to the
somatic cell count. The presence of subclinical mastitis is determined in all herds and good
milking practices are recommended. |

El objetivo principal del siguiente estudio se centró en detectar mediante métodos cualitativos y cuantitativos la mastitis subclínica con pruebas de CMT (california mastitis test), análisis físico químico y conteo de células somáticas. La investigación se realizó en 6 Hatos ganaderos del departamento del Cauca. La escogencia de este este tema se debió a la importancia económica que tiene la mastitis subclínica y a la necesidad de dar a conocer a los ganaderos la situación de la mastitis subclínica en sus fincas. Mediante un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, se tomaron 61 muestras de leche cruda para determinar algunos parámetros fisicoquímicos y de recuento de células somáticas. Los datos obtenidos se analizaron de acuerdo a la normatividad vigente en Colombia (Decreto 616 de 2006) del Ministerio de la Protección Social. La mayoría de los parámetros fisicoquímicos de las muestras de leche cruda evaluadas se encontraron por fuera de los parámetros normales de la legislación colombiana. El recuento de células somáticas también se encontró por encima de lo permitido. La leche cruda presenta mala calidad fisicoquímica lo cual está directamente relacionado con el recuento de células somáticas. Se determina la presencia de mastitis subclínica en todos los hatos y se recomienda tener en cuenta buenas prácticas de ordeño.
