Life in the city is becoming more and more stressful and routine; therefore, escaping to nature is tempting for travelers. This so-called typology of nature or alternative tourism (which includes ecotourism, adventure tourism and rural tourism) is a practice that is not only enriching for people, but also helps to control the carrying capacity in destinations and the preservation of nature. The present work is carried out from the need to create a guideline or strategic plan that helps the small villages or towns that enter the tourist activity to organize and promote it in a better way. As subject of study, the community of Buritaca, (rural area of Santa Marta, Colombia) is taken through a study with different approaches (qualitative and quantitative) that allows organizing the steps to follow and projects to implement in order to achieve tourism sustainable safe, sustainable and profitable.

El turismo es una actividad que cada día toma más fuerza, pues son muchos los motivos que llevan a una persona a viajar fuera de su entorno habitual, entre ellos hay uno que está tomando fuerza y es la conexión del ser con la naturaleza y consigo mismo. Y es que la vida en la ciudad cada vez se vuelve más estresante y rutinaria, por ende, escapar a la naturaleza es algo tentador para los viajeros. Esta tipología denominada de naturaleza o turismo alternativo (El cual incluye al ecoturismo, turismo de aventura y turismo rural) es una práctica que no solo es enriquecedora para las personas, sino que también ayuda a controlar la capacidad de carga en los destinos y a la preservación de la naturaleza. El presente trabajo, se lleva a cabo a partir de la necesidad de crear un lineamiento o plan estratégico que ayude a las pequeñas veredas o pueblos que incursionan en la actividad turística a organizarlo y promocionarlo de una mejor forma. Como sujeto de estudio se toma a la comunidad de Buritaca, (zona rural de Santa Marta, Colombia) mediante un estudio con diferentes enfoques (cualitativo y cuantitativo) que permita organizar los pasos a seguir y proyectos a implementar con el fin de alcanzar un turismo sostenible seguro, sustentable y rentable.
