description The article deals with the tensions between tradition and modernity faced by an afro-descendant community in the township of Cerrito, Valle del Cauca, specifically those related to cultural practices towards everyday sexuality. Having migrated from diverse rural contexts to this urban scenario, the community subject of research changed its geographical location as well as its place of residence, but its customs and beliefs remained intact. From this point of view, a new problem has arisen that stands in the way of women’s sexual and reproductive rights, namely, male partners refusing to use any birth control method. Accordingly, the issue around this practice demands a historical revision of sexuality in afrodescendant populace from an interpretative perspective that allows for studying how cultural devices are inherited and duplicated in these communities.

2021-11-10T01:00:40Z 2021-11-10T01:00:40Z 2012-05-14 Artículo revisado por pares info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_2df8fbb1 info:eu-repo/semantics/article http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85 http://revistas.uan.edu.co/index.php/nodo/article/view/388 http://repositorio.uan.edu.co/handle/123456789/5657 spa http://revistas.uan.edu.co/index.php/nodo/article/view/388/327 Acceso abierto Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/ info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2 application/pdf Universidad Antonio Nariño 2346-092X 1909-3888 REVISTA NODO; Vol. 6 Núm. 12 (2012); 55 - 66
