As a conclusion, the author emphasizes on the lack of analysis byColombian critics that either turn down the subject of violence in the search of a more “positive” cinematography overlooking a reality that involves a vast portion of the population, orlimit their scrutiny to verifying that what is being portrayed in the movies is historically correct without getting into broader discussions, leading to the fact that most truly critical proposals are actually coming from foreign universities. |

El artículo presenta una aproximación a la violencia urbana en Colombia desde la cinematografía nacional. Con base en la división temporal de la violencia establecida tanto por historiadores como por críticos de cine, la autora seleccionó seis películas que abordan el tema de la violencia en ambientes urbanos, y presentan diversas facetas de ese fenómeno, como la violencia bipartidista en ciudades y municipios, la marginalidad urbana y la inserción del narcotráfico en la sociedad. El análisis de las películas se hace con base en lo que, desde la teoría y la crítica, se ha dicho de esas seis cintas.
