El presente trabajo se ubica en el municipio de Piendamo – Cauca, debido a que en este municipio se ubica el punto de encuentro de las comunidades indígenas más grande de todo el departamento este es la gobernación del resguardo indígena la María que se encuentra en la vereda la María fuera del resguardo en un lote perteneciente a este. Ya que gran parte de su organización y resistencia depende de la capacidad de reunión y movilización de los miembros de los resguardos, y la falta de espacios culturales para trasmitir saberes. Surge la necesidad inminente de diseñar y construir un espacio que permita el desarrollo de actividades multitudinarias de toma de decisiones, movilización política y actividades lúdicas, de festejo o ceremoniales y transmisión de conocimiento. Por esto este trabajo se enfoca en el diseño de un Centro intercultural indígena que integre el concepto de lo étnico y la cosmovisión a su arquitectura, brindando un lugar con las características óptimas para el desarrollo de sus encuentros, como la oferta de servicios, de albergue, de alimentación y sanitarios, lo cual previene problemas como la insalubridad que se produce actualmente por la asistencia masiva de personas acompañada del hecho de que algunos pernotan sin tener la infraestructura para recibirlos.
