La prestación del servicio de salud en el departamento del Choco, es muy malo, parece que para el gobierno local, los habitantes de este territorio no tienen derecho a satisfacer esta necesidad, que es prioritaria para vivir. Pues no tienen los medios necesarios para la prestación con calidad de este servicio. La corrupción es el mayor impedimento para el desarrollo de este sector, ha hecho estrago con los recursos de la salud, razones por las que no, cuenta con hospital de tercer nivel, el único hospital de segundo nivel que hay, es el Hospital San Francisco de Asís; ha sido intervenido en varias ocasiones, no tiene las condiciones adecuadas y herramientas necesarias para afrontar una pandemia como el covid 19.
