The main problem of the current institute is the location where it is currently built since it is causing an urban, social and environmental impact in its neighborhood and that due to its physical and operational characteristics do not adequately integrate with its surrounding environment "causing discontent in the inhabitants who live in this place and in the athletes who come to the sports facilities in the sector, are the sad conditions in which it is found. Deterioration of the morgue that is insufficient since it does not have adequate ventilation management, filtering bad odors in the place, lack of laboratories for the practice of forensic medicine, are some of the shortcomings that have not allowed this institute to offer a Quality service." What is intended with this research is to deliver a comprehensive architectural project of the institute of legal medicine and forensic science in the city of Villavicencio, based on the approach of the Land Use Plan (POT), including the design of a new institute of legal medicine that it has the facilities required of a departmental institute for the community of the meta, recovering the lost confidence of the inhabitants of the Menegua neighborhood, which has led to practice investigations at the institute of legal medicine in Bogotá. |

Notablemente el instituto de medicina legal y ciencias forenses de Villavicencio ha venido progresando convirtiéndose en el principal instituto en el departamento del Meta donde se practica la medicina forense encargado de prestar los servicios forenses a la comunidad y a la administración de justicia sustentados en la investigación científica y la idoneidad del talento humano en un marco de calidad, imparcialidad, competitividad y respeto por la dignidad humana. El principal problema del actual instituto es la ubicación donde está actualmente construido ya que está causando un impacto urbano, social, ambiental en su vecindad y que por sus características físicas y de operación no se integran adecuadamente con su entorno circundante “ocasionando descontento en los habitantes que viven en este sitio y en los deportistas que llegan a las instalaciones deportivas que hay en el sector, son las tristes condiciones en que se encuentra. Deterioro de la morgue que es insuficiente ya que no cuenta con un manejo adecuado de ventilación, filtrando malos olores en el lugar, falta de laboratorios para la práctica de la medicina forense, son algunas de las falencias que no han permitido que este instituto ofrezca un servicio de calidad.” Lo que se pretende con esta investigación es entregar un proyecto arquitectónico integral del instituto de medicina legal y ciencias forenses en la ciudad de Villavicencio, basada en el planteamiento del Plan de Ordenamiento Territorial (POT), incluyendo el diseño de un nuevo instituto de medicina legal que cuente con las instalaciones requerías de un instituto departamental para la comunidad del meta, recuperando la confianza perdida de los habitantes del barrio Menegua, lo cual a conducido a practicar investigaciones al instituto de medicina legal en Bogotá.
