Propia The urban proposal of this project arises as a response to a social need of the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga, such as an aquatic center for the practice and preparation of athletes of high performance and training. This proposal is associated with activities related to swimming and its modalities. The sports venues existing today have almost four decades of operation, being one of the reasons why the facilities had such an important value for the communities. Research was carried out into sports practice by analyzing factors and characteristics of recreational sites, public areas, and official infrastructure. It was concluded that they do not meet national and international standards. One of the solutions is to design the valle del río aquatic center to provide the athlete with areas for development, preparation, and competition. Complying with the regulations of national and international standards is the key factor of this proposal. This research use strategies for environmental sustainability using as a refence textile architecture concepts of the Aquatic Center of London, and the Aquatic Center National Stadium of Chile in Latin America. La propuesta urbana de este proyecto surge como respuesta a una necesidad social del área metropolitana de Bucaramanga, como lo es un Centro acuático destinado para la práctica y preparación de deportistas de alto rendimiento y formación, asociado a actividades relacionadas con la natación y sus modalidades, ya que los escenarios deportivos existentes hoy en día cuentan con casi cuatro décadas de funcionamiento, presentando deterioro en sus instalaciones, se indagó en la práctica deportiva analizando los factores y características de los escenarios recreativos, espacios públicos y la infraestructura oficial, y se concluyó que no cuentan con el cumplimiento de los estándares nacionales e internacionales. Una de las soluciones es diseñar el centro acuático valle del río para brindarle al deportista áreas para el desarrollo, preparación y competición, cumpliendo con la normativa de los estándares nacionales e internacionales, generando estrategias de sostenibilidad ambiental usando como referentes soluciones de arquitectura textil como los utilizados en el Centro Acuático de Londres y el Centro Acuático Estadio Nacional de Chile en el ámbito latinoamericano.
