Los asentamientos estructurales son movimientos causados a partir de un hundimiento o algún tipo de consolidación del suelo subyacente. Estas deformaciones pueden alterar la estabilidad y la funcionalidad de las edificaciones y cualquier otro tipo de estructura. Estos asentamientos suelen presentarse regularmente por causas muy comunes como son la compactación inadecuada del suelo durante la conformación, la presencia de suelos expansivos o inestables y la variación en los niveles freáticos de aguas subterráneas.
