Such is the case of polyhedral combinatorics. One of the most important results in this eld is the Upper Bound Theorem. With the proof of this theorem, a wonderful connection between geometry and combinatorial polytopes was discovered. The purpose of this text is to introduce some denitions and ideas that are developed in the proof of the Upper Bound Theorem. The main character of our brief text will be the h-vector.

A lo largo de la historia de las matemáticas hemos apreciado la existencia de diversas y maravillosas conexiones entre diferentes áreas, resultando en el interés por estudiar temas que involucren ideas de distintas ramas de las matemáticas. Tal es el caso de la combinatoria polihédrica. Uno de los resultados más importantes en este campo es el Teorema de la Cota Superior. Con la demostración de este teorema se descubrió una maravillosa conexión entre la geometría y la combinatoria de los politopos. El propósito de este texto es introducir algunas deniciones e ideas desarrolladas en la prueba del Teorema de la Cota Superior.
