Se analiza las razones que guían el diseño y la elaboración de las pruebas que componen las diferentes etapas o rondas que conforman la Olimpiada Colombiana de Matemáticas en cada una de sus realizaciones anuales, mostrando cómo se busca desarrollar el pensamiento matemático del estudiante participante y cómo se caracteriza el pensamiento que se invita al estudiante a desarrollar.
