Actualmente, los fenómenos de personas o grupos en masas que deben abandonar sus lugares de origen, resultan más visible y estadísticamente analizables, debido, entre otras cosas, a los controles que ejercen los Estados y a la cantidad de literatura que se ha escrito sobre la migración.
