| description | Introduction: Is it possible to improve chemistry learning in university students by implementing knowledge integration materials with contextualized examples of medications? A large part of the theoretical content included in the General Chemistry syllabus can be addressed through contextualized examples. This promotes student involvement and interest in chemical-pharmaceutical concepts. Methodology: This is a mixed study in which educational materials are designed and implemented that incorporate the topics of solutions and acid-base chemical balance with contextualized examples of drugs and medications. The evaluation instruments consisted of questionnaires with open and closed questions with which ideas, concepts and procedures were collected from the students. Results and discussion: The learning results show that for Dilutions and Solutions there is an increase from 70 to 90% in the understanding of the theoretical concepts, but in related exercises the students present generalized difficulty. For the concepts related to Acid-Base Chemical Equilibrium, progress in understanding was evident with a 15% increase in where students identified the ionized species. Conclusions: As evidence of this research work, the use of contextualized examples allows adaptation to diverse educational environments since the specific needs of students are evident. This teaching suggestion illustrates how the use of contextually adapted exercises, such as those related to medications, can enrich the teaching of chemistry. |

Introducción: ¿es posible mejorar el aprendizaje de la química en estudiantes universitarios al implementar materiales de integración de conocimientos con ejemplos contextualizados de medicamentos? Una gran parte de los contenidos teóricos que se incluyen en el temario de Química General se pueden abordar mediante ejemplos contextualizados. Esto promueve en los estudiantes un involucramiento e interés de los conceptos químico-farmacéuticos. Metodología: se trata de un estudio mixto en el que se diseñaron e implementaron materiales educativos que incorporan los temas de disoluciones y equilibrio químico ácido-base con ejemplos contextualizados de fármacos y medicamentos. Los instrumentos de evaluación consisten en cuestionarios de preguntas abiertas y cerradas con las que se recabaron ideas, conceptos y procedimientos de los estudiantes. Resultados y discusión: los resultados de aprendizaje muestran que para diluciones y disoluciones se aumentan del 70 % al 90 % en la comprensión de los conceptos teóricos, pero en ejercicios relacionados los estudiantes presentan una dificultad generalizada. Para los conceptos relacionados con equilibrio químico ácido-base, el progreso de la comprensión fue evidente al incrementar en un 15 % donde los estudiantes identifican la especie ionizada. Conclusiones: como evidencia de esta investigación, el uso de ejemplos contextualizados permite la adaptación a diversos entornos educativos, ya que queda de manifiesto las necesidades específicas de los estudiantes.
