description | Introduction: The picturebook, understood as a reflexive object in which text and image dialogue in a complementary way, proposes an innovative didactic in the promotion and development of children’s language skills, through the acquisition of metalinguistic and metaliterary skills, and the ability to relate and comprehend the text and the image in order to enhance their learning. Methodology: This article aims to analyze the picturebook’s role as a tool for the development of language skills in Elementary School children, to revindicate it as an educational tool with great recreational and teaching potential. This by means of a thorough literature review and a narrative analysis, whose data collection tool were semi-structured interviews with Elementary School teachers, as well as to publishers, writers, and illustrators of picturebooks. Results and Discussion: These interviews, together with the previous conceptualization of the project, led to some findings on what the implementation and development of the picture book implies. Given that the perspectives analyzed were those of the actors who intervene in it from its creation as an editorial object that emerges in the dialogue between text and image; as well as the perspectives of those who use it as a tool in the classroom, discerning the role it plays in the development of language skills of elementary school children. Conclusions: Finally, the article presents the possibilities of the picturebook as a didactic tool through the comprehension reached regarding its pedagogical, aesthetic and critical thinking training function. |

Introducción: el libro álbum, entendido como objeto reflexivo en el que el texto y la imagen dialogan con interdependencia, propone una didáctica innovadora en el fomento y el desarrollo de las habilidades de lenguaje, por medio de la adquisición de habilidades metalingüísticas y metaliterarias, la capacidad de relación y comprensión del texto y la imagen con el fin de potenciar el aprendizaje de sus lectores. Metodología: este artículo analiza el papel de los libros álbum para el fomento y el desarrollo de las habilidades del lenguaje de los niños de la educación básica primaria, con el fin de reivindicarlo como una herramienta educativa de gran potencial lúdico y didáctico mediante un rastreo bibliográfico y un análisis narrativo, cuya herramienta de recolección de información fueron entrevistas semiestructuradas a maestros de básica primaria, así como a editores, escritores e ilustradores de libros álbum. Resultados y discusión: estas entrevistas, junto con la conceptualización del proyecto, llevaron a unos resultados sobre lo que implica la implementación y construcción del libro álbum, puesto que se analizaron perspectivas de aquellos actores que lo intervienen desde su concepción como objeto editorial que surge en medio del diálogo entre el texto y la imagen, así como las perspectivas de los que lo usan como herramienta en el aula, vislumbrando el papel que desempeña en el desarrollo de las habilidades del lenguaje de los niños de la educación básica primaria. Conclusiones: se presentan las posibilidades del libro álbum como herramienta didáctica a través de las comprensiones alcanzadas con respecto a su función pedagógica, estética y formadora de pensamiento crítico. O livro de literatura ilustrado, entendido como um objeto reflexivo em que texto e imagem dialogam com interdependência, propõe uma didática inovadora na promoção e desenvolvimento de competências linguísticas, através da aquisição de competências metalinguísticas e metaliterárias, a capacidade de relacionar e compreender o texto e a imagem de forma a potenciar a aprendizagem. Este artigo determina o papel dos livros de literatura ilustrado na promoção e desenvolvimento de competências linguísticas em crianças do Ensino Fundamental, através de uma revisão da literatura e de uma análise narrativa, cujo instrumento de pesquisa foram entrevistas semi-estruturadas a professores do Ensino Fundamental, bem como a editores, escritores e ilustradores de livros de literatura ilustrados.
