Both works treat the remote geography and frontiers of the country during this period. El género de la literatura de viajes a principios de siglo veinte en Colombia, pone de nuevo en cuestión el debate regional dentro de los procesos de construcción de la nación, evidenciando los imaginarios, en su mayoría estereotipados, que se han construido de algunas regiones del país a través del tiempo y que aún hoy permanecen como referentes establecidos en la memoria de los colombianos. Este artículo analiza estos presupuestos a través del análisis de dos libros de viaje: Viaje a pie de Fernando González y Cuatro años a bordo de mí mismo de Eduardo Zalamea. Ambas obras dan cuenta de geografías apartadas y periféricas para el país de la época. Este artículo de reflexión es el resultado de la investigación realizada para la tesis de maestría en Literatura Latinoamericana presentada en enero de 2011 bajo el título: “La literatura de viajes en Colombia.
