La indivisibilidad entre patrimonio cultural material e inmaterial ha generado en la actualidad un debate que está sometiendo a revisión la forma en que se ha estado trabajando la cuestión patrimonial de manera separada. En este trabajo se toman las categorías de patrimonio arquitectónico y tradición para abonar al debate sobre el tratamiento integral del patrimonio cultural, a partir del análisis de dos casos particulares: Tapalpa y San Sebastián del Oeste, en el Estado de Jalisco. Ambas localidades inscritas en el Programa Pueblos Mágicos de la Secretaría de Turismo de México.
