In this article we take the categories of architectural heritage and tradition to endorse the debate on the integral treatment of cultural heritage, from the analysis of two particular cases: Tapalpa and San Sebastián del Oeste, in the State of Jalisco. Both localities recorded in the program of the Mexican Tourism Ministry, Pueblos Mágicos. La indivisibilidad entre patrimonio cultural material e inmaterial ha generado en la actualidad un debate que está sometiendo a revisión la forma en que se ha estado trabajando la cuestión patrimonial de manera separada. En este trabajo se toman las categorías de patrimonio arquitectónico y tradición para abonar al debate sobre el tratamiento integral del patrimonio cultural, a partir del análisis de dos casos particulares: Tapalpa y San Sebastián del Oeste, en el Estado de Jalisco. Ambas localidades inscritas en el Programa Pueblos Mágicos de la Secretaría de Turismo de México.
